Breast Augmentation

The goal of a breast augmentation is to increase the fullness and projection of a patient’s breasts. It can improve balance of your figure and enhance self-image and self-confidence. Most breast augmentations are performed under general anesthesia or with sedation. Recovery times are variable depending on type of surgery and what you need to be able to do. A decision regarding the location of incisions and placement of implant as well as type of implant to be used require an in depth discussion in person.

Breast Lift

Also know as a mastopexy, this procedure is performed to remove excess skin and reshape the breast to a cosmetically acceptable shape. In most cases it also allows for a improved position of the nipple an areola. The final resulting scar may be confined the areola (peri-areola), a lollipop shape (vertical) or an anchor type incision (wise pattern) . The type of scar is determined by the shape of the breast and goal of the patient.

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction improves the cosmetic appearance of an enlarged breast. In addition patient with symptoms caused by the size and weight of their breast (back pain, neck pain, breast pain and rashes) can have significant improvement in their quality of life by reducing breast size and elevating the breast on the chest. Insurance may cover breast reduction.

Temporary Breast Augmentation

Also termed “vacation augmentations”. Temporary augmentations can be performed by injecting saline into the breast tissue. The procedure is done under local anesthesia. The result may last up to 48 hrs. As the saline reabsorbs the breast will go back to their original shape. Patients who are unsure about having an implant based augmentation have undergone this procedure to “see how it looks”.

Fat Transfer for Breast Augmentation

There is little long term information regarding the results of fat transfer to the breast. Fat is commonly transferred to many parts of the body including the face and for the more popular “Brazilian Butt Lift”. The breast is a hormonally active organ and injecting fat into and around the breast tissue requires a detailed discussion. The procedure is commonly performed in patients with asymmetric breasts.
